Cranks Pop-Up, September 12

We’re launching our brand new studio with a very special event as Isbourne Arts hosts its first ever pop up and all to celebrate a special moment in Winchcombe’s history.

Do you remember Cranks, England’s first chain of vegetarian restaurants? Did you know that Winchcombe Pottery supplied all their pottery from 1961 onwards?

As part of Winchcombe Pottery’s centenary celebrations, you’ll have a chance to relive or be introduced to the Cranks experience in the Izzy’s new Studio. Book for vegetarian lunch or supper or just drop in in-between for snacks, savoury and sweet, and drinks. You’ll get to eat food cooked by Izzy volunteers using Cranks recipes served on and in Winchcombe pottery.

Alongside the Cranks eating experience, we will showcase the long partnership between Cranks and Winchcombe Pottery and display pottery designed for Cranks, some still in production today. Share your memories of Cranks with us and fellow diners.

All afternoon there will be events at Winchcombe Pottery – a kiln opening, throwing demonstrations, tours and talks. After lunch at the Cranks Pop-Up, join a guided walk from the Izzy to the Pottery, or when events at the Pottery wind down, be guided on foot to the Izzy for supper. The walk is just over a mile and includes a stile.

And the evening will continue at the Izzy with screenings about Winchcombe Pottery and the potters who have made it what it is, presented by the Edgeler Collection.

Cranks Pop Up is open for light snacks, cake and tea between 1pm and 6pm. Film event starts at 7.30pm with more details soon, keep an eye on the website and our social media.
